Competitions for SCAC and SACA: Candidate Profile

The High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine received 356 applications for participation in competitions for vacant positions of judges in the Specialised Circuit Administrative Court and the Specialised Administrative Court of Appeal. There were
268 unique candidates, with 88 candidates applying for positions as judges in both the SCAC and the SACA.

Competition for the SCAC

225 persons submitted documents to the SCAC for 17 vacant positions of judges. Among the applicants, there are 135 men (60%) and 90 women (40%). The vast majority of candidates are between 40 and 49 years old, with this age group accounting for almost
two-thirds of all competition participants. Another third are candidates aged 30 to 39.

Most of the candidates for the SCAC are lawyers – 95 people. Also participating in the competition are 36 judges, 24 academics and 22 civil servants.

Competition for the SACA

131 persons submitted documents to the SACA for 10 vacant positions of judges. The majority were men – 83 (63%), while women accounted for 48 (37%). As in the competition for the SCAC, the largest age group was 40–49 years old.

In terms of professional experience, judges predominate among the candidates for the SACA – 43 persons, followed by lawyers – 33, civil servants – 6, and academics – 11 persons.

The verification of documents for candidates for the position of judge is currently underway. After reviewing the submitted documents, the HQCJ will decide on the admission of candidates to participate in competitions for vacant positions of judges in the SCAC and the SACA, which is planned for February.
